In 1921, Heinrich Krug laid the foundation for the company Heinrich Krug Weichenbau.
What began on a small and modest scale, with production taking place outdoors, grew under Heinrich Krug's leadership into a highly capable and respected company by the time of his passing in 1957.

In 1957, Werner Jentzsch took over the management of the company. Under his leadership, modernization continued to advance, leading to the construction of a new production hall and administrative office in 1959.
In 1980, the company further expanded with the construction of a new administration building, providing modern staff facilities and bringing the administrative and production departments together at a single location.

In 1983, Heiko Berning and Horst Glanert assumed the roles of Managing Directors. Recognizing early on the importance of a modern IT infrastructure, they introduced a company-wide computer network and CAD workstations, which have been continuously upgraded to provide an efficient foundation for both administrative and production operations.
In 1991, the construction of an additional production hall and a second administration building enabled the company to meet future market demands while further optimizing internal workflows.

Another important milestone in meeting the company's high standards of quality and efficiency was its first certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001 in 1997.
In June 2001, Technical Managing Director Horst Glanert passed away after a long illness. Following his passing, Heiko Berning assumed sole responsibility as Managing Director.

With the establishment of Krug Weichenbau GmbH in September 2002, the company's turnout construction division was reorganized.
In 2007, the new administration building was completed. The founding of Krug Kranbahntechnik GmbH brought the crane runway technology and installation divisions together in a dedicated center of expertise.
In 2010, Fedor Hawryluk joined the management team as the company's second Managing Director.
His clear objective has been to continuously expand the company's customer service in line with each client's individual requirements.
Working closely with leading manufacturing partners, the company established itself as a supplier of long rails throughout Germany while simultaneously expanding its portfolio to cover the entire track superstructure supply chain, including turnouts, concrete sleepers, and fastening systems.

Effective October 1, 2011, all divisions of the company once again began operating under the name Heinrich Krug GmbH & Co. KG.
On December 31, 2023, Heiko Berning stepped down from his position as Managing Director.
On January 1, 2024, Björn Stiefermann assumed his role as Managing Director, joining CEO Fedor Hawryluk in the company's executive leadership team.
